Job description

We are seeking an experienced Principal DevSecOps Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of secure communications and embedded software systems supporting critical defense and national security missions. In this role, you'll design, automate, and maintain advanced DevSecOps pipelines that enable the rapid development and deployment of software powering military aircraft, unmanned systems, ground vehicles, and naval platforms.

Working alongside industry-leading engineers, you'll contribute to cutting-edge technologies including embedded software, advanced satellite communications, secure networking, cryptography, and resilient computing architectures. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation while supporting systems that keep military personnel safe, connected, and mission-ready., * Design, develop, and maintain secure DevSecOps pipelines supporting embedded software development within classified, air-gapped environments.

  • Develop automation tools, scripts, and applications to streamline software integration, testing, deployment, and release management.
  • Integrate development tools, software applications, and automation frameworks to improve engineering efficiency and continuous delivery.
  • Support multiple defense programs by managing DevSecOps infrastructure, software configuration management, and deployment processes.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard DevSecOps tools and best practices.
  • Develop and deploy containerized applications while supporting modern cloud-native and virtualization technologies.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, cybersecurity, and infrastructure engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable software solutions.
  • Participate in technology selection, process improvement initiatives, and DevSecOps strategy to increase automation and development velocity.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and provide leadership across software development and DevSecOps initiatives.
  • Maintain software configuration management and version control throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support Agile software development practices within a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment while ensuring high-quality, secure software delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or another STEM discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 5 years with an advanced degree, in software engineering, DevSecOps, or a related technical field.
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Strong programming and scripting experience using Python and Bash to automate complex development workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Git version control platforms such as GitLab or Bitbucket.
  • Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar automation platforms.
  • Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong Linux administration experience, including scripting, software deployment, and system configuration.
  • Experience with software artifact management platforms such as JFrog Artifactory or equivalent solutions.
  • Experience supporting software configuration management throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support multiple complex engineering programs simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working on cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Grafana.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API development and system integration.
  • Experience administering Linux environments and enterprise applications.
  • Working knowledge of C, C++, or Java, particularly within embedded software environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-threaded embedded software and communications systems.
  • Understanding of IP networking, network protocols, and secure communications architectures.
  • Experience administering Atlassian tools and supporting Agile development teams.
  • Previous experience supporting defense, aerospace, embedded systems, satellite communications, or mission-critical software programs.
