Job description

In this role, you will serve as a senior technical contributor and technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-performance software solutions that address complex engineering challenges. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop next-generation capabilities spanning high-performance computing, computer vision, image and mesh processing, geospatial analytics, artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation, and advanced visualization. \n \n The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in modern software engineering principles and advanced programming techniques while helping define technical strategy, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating with government customers to transition innovative research into operational capability. This position requires the ability to solve highly complex technical problems, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to the strategic direction of critical programs \n \n \nPrimary Responsibilities: \n \n \n

  • Design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain complex software systems throughout the complete software development lifecycle.\n
  • Architect and implement high-performance software applications.\n
  • Develop scalable algorithms for computer vision, image processing, computational geometry, mesh processing, photogrammetry, and geospatial data exploitation.\n
  • Design and optimize GPU-accelerated software using CUDA and parallel computing technologies.\n
  • Develop software frameworks, reusable libraries, APIs, and services supporting mission applications.\n
  • Perform software architecture, design reviews, code reviews, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization.\n
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and government customers to develop innovative technical solutions for complex mission challenges.\n
  • Lead technical planning, software architecture decisions, risk identification, and implementation strategies for large, complex software efforts.\n
  • Mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple development teams.\n
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to customer missions.\n
  • Support customer demonstrations, technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and program milestones.\n
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, software design artifacts, interface documentation, and engineering reports.\n
  • Ensure software quality through automated testing, configuration management, continuous integration, and DevSecOps best practices.\n
  • Contribute to technical proposals, innovation initiatives, and research activities supporting future business growth.\n

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 12-15 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 10-13 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in accordance with Leidos equivalency guidelines.\n
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as C++, Python, C#, Java, or C.\n
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, deploying, and maintaining complex software applications throughout the software development lifecycle.\n
  • Experience designing software architecture, processing pipelines, plugins, automation tools, or reusable software components.\n
  • Experience developing software for Windows and Linux environments.\n
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical problems, modernize existing software, and apply new technologies to improve software capabilities and development efficiency.\n
  • Experience providing senior-level technical expertise and contributing to software design, implementation, integration, and technical approach decisions.\n
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments and using configuration management tools such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab.\n
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating with government customers and multidisciplinary technical teams.\n, * Experience developing distributed or scalable software-processing workflows for large datasets.\n
  • Experience with computer vision, image processing, computational geometry, mesh processing, photogrammetry, or point-cloud processing.\n
  • Experience processing terrain data, imagery, LiDAR, drone imagery, or other large geospatial datasets.\n
  • Experience with geospatial and image-processing technologies such as GDAL, PDAL, CGAL, OpenCV, ArcGIS, QGIS, Assimp, or OpenSceneGraph.\n
  • Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, AI-assisted software development, or workflow automation.\n
  • Experience developing modeling, simulation, military training, or advanced visualization systems for Department of Defense customers.\n
  • Experience with distributed processing, cloud technologies, containerization, or related development tools such as AWS and Docker.\n
  • Experience applying research, emerging technologies, or internally developed capabilities to complex software engineering efforts.\n
  • Experience supporting software integration, testing, training, demonstrations, or fielded government systems.\n
