Job description
We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to adopt into DevOps and Agile philosophies within the Microlise group. Your key responsibilities will be to implement, maintain and upgrade the Microlise Managed Service / Hosted Product and Infrastructure, providing essential skills and advice to other areas of the business.
This is a broad role, where you will have the opportunity to work with Architects and Engineers within our 150 strong development team, whilst supporting the Platform Manager and wider Platform team!
What will you be doing?
Administering and maintaining critical information control systems supporting our managed and hosted services
Collaborating with Development and wider business teams to ensure systems remain accurate, available and fit for purpose
Implementing, configuring, maintaining and upgrading platform infrastructure and services
Diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving platform and service issues
Complete dry run testing prior to implementation work and ensure roll back functionality
Working with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure systems are performing optimally
Facilitating effective knowledge sharing between internal teams and external stakeholders
Maintaining platform documentation, reporting information and operational records
Driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the platform estate

Requirements
Experience working within a DevOps, Platform Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering role
A background in software-focused organisations or working closely alongside development teams
A strong understanding of networking, IP addressing and enterprise IT environments
Experience adopting a code-first approach and leveraging automation wherever possible
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
We re looking for technical skills such as:
Terraform, Ansible and other automation technologies
PowerShell and/or Bash scripting
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
Command Line Interface (CLI) expertise
Linux and Windows Server administration
Networking technologies including firewalls, load balancers and switching architecture
DNS administration and configuration
Active Directory
Hyper-V virtualisation
Enterprise storage technologies
Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
Infrastructure and system monitoring solutions
SolarWinds, Datadog, Grafana and Elastic
SonarQube
