Job description
We are looking for a talented Associate Backend Software Engineer - (AI, Java, Vert.x, AWS) to join our Signals Software team, building our next generation cloud notebook application. You will be focused on the back-end design and development of our cloud notebook product, helping turn marketing requirements into an easy to use and elegant application designed for the scientific community. You Will:
- Collaborate with fellow team members on priorities, specifications, and feature implementation
- Craft well-documented, clean, and tested code
- Create secure, performant interfaces and services
- Build and maintain new, high-impact functionality into Signals Notebook
- Work with cloud services and technologies
Requirements
- 1-3 years of professional work experience
- 1 years of Java programming skills
- 1-3 years' experience with Reactive Programming (Vert.x)
- 1 years building Web Services and RESTful APIs
- 1 year experience using AI-powered developer tools and productivity suites on a daily basis, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT, or similar AI assistant, * Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- Thorough understanding of and experience with structured software development methodologies including design, development, and testing in an Agile environment
- Must have strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams
- Excellent work ethic and strong sense of ownership of end result
- Entrepreneurial minded, creative problem solver, and innovative thinker
- Exposure to CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub)
- Experience working with JDBC in a transactional application (using any RDBMS, but preferably PostgreSQL)
- An awareness of performance implications of different queries and inserts/updates

Benefits & conditions
The base salary range for this full-time position is $74,000 - $95,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company.
