Job description
firstPRO is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Administrator to support and enhance our enterprise network infrastructure across corporate offices and data center environments. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, optimization, and security of mission-critical networking systems while serving as a technical leader for network initiatives and infrastructure projects., * Design, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure supporting corporate offices and data center environments.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to develop scalable, secure, and highly available network solutions.
- Lead network infrastructure projects from planning through implementation, including risk management, testing, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
- Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot network performance to maximize availability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, load balancers, and cloud networking components.
- Manage network security, user access controls, segmentation, and compliance with organizational security standards.
- Coordinate hardware refreshes, software upgrades, firmware updates, and lifecycle management of network infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex network and telecommunications issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, systems, cloud, security, and application teams to support enterprise initiatives.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, operational procedures, and disaster recovery documentation.
- Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements that enhance performance, security, and scalability.
- Mentor junior network administrators and engineers while providing technical guidance and leadership across projects.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the evaluation, testing, and deployment of new networking technologies and enterprise solutions.
- Produce technical reports and performance metrics related to network health and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with service desk personnel and support teams to resolve escalated incidents.
- Partner with vendors to troubleshoot complex issues and implement strategic improvements.
- Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain enterprise networking equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN gateways, wireless infrastructure, telephony systems, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and related technologies.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and customer-focused IT environment while supporting organizational values.
Requirements
The successful candidate should have experience with many of the following technologies:
- Cisco enterprise networking, including:
- Nexus Series switching
- Enterprise routing and switching
- Cisco Wireless
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
- Experience with Cisco Meraki and Juniper networking technologies is a plus.
- Fortinet FortiGate firewalls
- F5 BIG-IP Load Balancers, including Web Application Firewall (WAF)
- Azure and AWS cloud networking
- Dynamic routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
- VPN technologies and secure remote connectivity
- Network monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Network automation using Ansible (preferred), * Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure projects and driving technical initiatives.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking, network security, and cloud connectivity.
- Experience coordinating with third-party vendors and escalating complex technical issues when appropriate.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging networking technologies and industry best practices.
- Comfortable balancing operational support with strategic infrastructure planning (approximately 50% hands-on engineering and 50% project analysis and planning)., * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of progressive enterprise network administration or network engineering experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments with Cisco networking technologies, firewalls, cloud networking, and data center infrastructure.
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE/FCP, or F5 certifications are highly desirable.
