Job description
You don't write Terraform modules anymore-you decide what the entire platform that others write them on looks like. As a Senior Cloud Architect at T-Systems Austria, you are responsible for the technical design of business-critical cloud landscapes: landing zones, operating models, security architecture, and multi-cloud strategies for customers who place the highest demands on stability and security. Your mission
- Design and ownership of enterprise cloud architectures: landing zones, multi-cloud and hybrid environments
- Overall technical responsibility for cloud migration projects - from workload assessment to production
- represent and document architectural decisions in architecture boards and review committees
- Close cooperation with pre-sales: Responsible for solution architecture for offers and RFP responses
- Technical mentoring and architecture reviews for cloud engineers and consultants as a team
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in cloud architecture, enterprise IT or complex infrastructure consulting
- In-depth, proven expertise in at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - you've designed architectures, not just configured
- Experience in designing and implementing cloud transformations on an enterprise scale
- Solid understanding of cloud security, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements (such as GDPR or NIS2)
- Basic knowledge of FinOps: Cloud cost architecture, TCO modeling and cost optimization are part of your architecture decision
- Experience in customer contact at CTO or enterprise architect level - you can represent and explain technical decisions
- German C1 and English C1 - you confidently conduct architecture boards and customer presentations in both languages
Beneficial
- Experience with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Crossplane) and Kubernetes at platform level
- Cloud-native security skills: Zero Trust, CSPM/CNAPP tooling, or Well-Architected Framework Reviews
- Specialization in regulated sectors (e.g. public administration, KRITIS, financial services) or sovereign cloud architectures
- Professional/expert level certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP, or CNCF) are an advantage but not a requirement
Benefits & conditions
- You design architectures that can still be operated in three years' time - not just the ones that look elegant today
- You bring clear opinions and defend them with arguments, not with hierarchy
- You enjoy taking junior colleagues through architecture reviews and building up their knowledge
What we offer
- Technical design authority - you make platform decisions, not just recommendations
- Structured development path: Senior Cloud Architect * Principal Architect * Distinguished Architect/Fellow
- Certification budget for advanced-level certifications - including exam fees and preparation time
- Hybrid working model: Vienna office, customer appointments and home office can be flexibly combined
- Active participation in the T-Systems solution portfolio - your architecture decisions become the market standard
- International network of architects within the Deutsche Telekom Group
