Job description
- Review an existing LabVIEW final test application for structure, maintainability, and production usability
- Improve test sequence flow, operator prompts, error handling, and fault isolation messaging
- Review and improve comms handling, including bootloader/application checks, controller communications, and status verification
- Improve logging for serial number, software version, config data, results, and failure reasons to ensure full traceability
- Create or update the LabVIEW executable deployment package and document the release baseline
- Support hardware and fixture debugging alongside the software work where needed
- Support pilot production runs

- Support, We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Contract LabVIEW Software Engineer to help productionise an existing final test application for a thermal management controller product. This is a software-first engagement focused on making the LabVIEW application, sequence reliability, and logging robust and manufacturing-ready. The test rack is already built. The role is based in Gatwick on a hybrid working pattern, with an ASAP start, an initial 3-month contract, and a rate of up to £55 per hour outside IR35.
Requirements
- Strong, hands-on National Instruments LabVIEW development and debugging experience
- Experience with industrial automated final test equipment
- A track record of improving existing test software, not just building new applications from scratch
- Comfortable with Ethernet, USB/FTDI, command/response interfaces, and automated logging
- Structured, documentation-led approach to issue management and handover
- Desirable: experience with three-phase powered equipment test equipment, load banks, thermocouple simulators, DMMs, or thermal/heater control equipment
