Job description
Booker DiMaio is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to support a mission-critical Federal Intelligence Community program. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, high-performance software applications that support advanced technical operations within a highly classified environment.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience developing enterprise applications using technologies such as Python, Java, C++, and JavaScript, building analysis tools, integrating complex systems, and leading software development initiatives. This individual will contribute to software architecture, help drive the technical roadmap, and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams while mentoring junior developers.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable software applications supporting mission-critical operations.

Develop analysis tools and implement signal-processing algorithms to support advanced technical capabilities.

Integrate custom software solutions with existing government systems and enterprise platforms.

Contribute to software architecture, technical design, and long-term technology planning.

Manage the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from design through deployment and ongoing support.

Write clean, maintainable, and secure code while leading code reviews and promoting software development best practices.

Collaborate with front-end, back-end, and data engineering teams to deliver integrated software solutions.

Optimize application performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

8+ years of professional software development experience.

At least 3 years of experience serving in a technical leadership role, leading software development efforts, or mentoring engineering teams.

Strong experience developing applications using Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or similar programming languages.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.

Experience using Git for source code management and version control.

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization technologies.

Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.

Strong understanding of secure software development principles and secure coding practices.

Experience developing applications for secure or highly regulated environments.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense programs.

Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Experience designing and developing microservices and distributed systems.

Experience optimizing application performance and scalability.

Advanced cloud certifications or experience developing cloud-native applications.

Contributions to open-source software projects are a plus.
