This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of research and engineering, helping bring state-of-the-art AI solutions from proof-of-concept into everyday scientific practice while contributing to the development of transformative antibody therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Discovery scientists, data scientists, and software engineers to deploy AI and machine learning models into research workflows.
- Translate research prototypes into robust, scalable, and maintainable production solutions that can be adopted by scientists across the Discovery Research organization.
- Develop and maintain data processing, inference, and automation pipelines supporting AI-enabled applications, particularly in imaging and other high-dimensional biological data.
- Work closely with laboratory scientists to understand operational needs and continuously improve AI-driven tools based on user feedback.
- Contribute to the integration of AI solutions with existing data platforms, laboratory systems, and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Monitor, validate, and maintain deployed models, ensuring performance, reproducibility, and compliance with internal quality standards.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive data analysis tasks and improve operational efficiency through modern data science and software engineering practices.
- Communicate technical solutions and project progress effectively to colleagues with diverse scientific and technical backgrounds.
- Participate in scientific and technical discussions, contributing ideas that advance AI adoption across Discovery Research.
Requirements
- MSc degree (or BSc with relevant experience) in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, software engineering, or scientific computing, preferably within life sciences or biotechnology.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience developing maintainable, production-quality code.
- Experience deploying machine learning or deep learning models into production or operational environments.
- Familiarity with software development best practices, including Git, testing, documentation, and CI/CD workflows.
- Proven experience working with cloud computing platforms and containerized applications (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure or AWS).
- Understanding of machine learning lifecycle management, model monitoring, and reproducible computational workflows.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple external collaborations and operational workstreams simultaneously. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear guidance for both scientific and non-technical stakeholders.
- Operational Problem Solving: Comfortable working independently in ambiguous environments. Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to identify bottlenecks, improve processes, and drive operational efficiency.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
