Job description
Join our Defence Services team in Farnborough as a customer-facing engineer delivering tactical communications systems and command-and-control software. You'll work across multiple technical disciplines in an agile environment, helping implement mission-critical solutions for Defence customers in the UK and overseas.
Deliver solutions to support critical decision-making on the battlefield At Systematic, we deliver world-leading command-and-control (C2) applications for managing complex operations within defence and security. Our C4I software solutions are in service with more than 50 countries worldwide.
You will be part of our Defence Services organisation and work between our Farnborough office and customer sites. You will join a small team of customer-focused technical experts, working to implement our C2 software (SitaWare) to support critical decision-making in operational defence environments. This is a hands-on technical delivery role with a strong focus on deploying, integrating, configuring, testing and supporting our solutions, while contributing to continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities may include: Providing remote and on-site support to customers, especially during military exercises Managing software installation, configuration and support in the customer's C4I environments for use in tests, training, exercises and actual operations Managing setup and testing of integrations between C4I software products and coalition systems, sensors, effectors and communication systems Designing, implementing and supporting technical solutions Ensuring alignment, effective communication and coordination between stakeholders Supporting delivery of technical training to customers, administrators and users Providing level 1 and 2 support to customers on C4I software products, installation, integration with other software and equipment, and to end-users Keeping up to date with software product roadmaps to maximise value for customers Providing support to ensure projects are delivered within the agreed scope and on time
The role is based in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK, and entails domestic and occasional international travel to customer sites as well as visits to our company headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark. You should expect to spend ~50% of your time travelling and working at customer sites.
We operate a hybrid working policy which allows for flexibility with some time spent working in the office and some at home.
Requirements
Technical capability and experience You have a strong technical background and ideally hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a mathematical, computer-related, or other relevant discipline. Experience of working with military customers and knowledge of the defence C4I domain are advantageous.
You have at least two years of experience in delivering software solutions within customer environments and your technical competences cover:
Experience with IT infrastructure and platforms such as Windows, Linux, Android-based operating systems, Active Directory, database management systems, XMPP chat Experience in software development technologies e.g. Java, C#, JavaScript Experience in deploying software applications into cloud-based and on-premises environments Experience with containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes and Rancher) Knowledge of administration and operation of military command information systems, tactical radio devices and radio networks, and ITIL (desirable) Knowledge and experience of network management Experience of software fault-finding and debugging
