Job description
IT Support Technician. The IT Support Technician supports the IT function in delivering reliable day-to-day technology services across the business. The role provides technical support to users, resolves hardware and software issues, supports Microsoft 365 services, prepares and deploys equipment, and assists with business systems administration and continuous improvement initiatives.
What will you do:
- Provide support for users covering desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, Microsoft 365, telephony and standard business applications.
- Log, update, prioritise and resolve support tickets through the helpdesk system.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, account, access, printing, Wi-Fi, VPN and general network connectivity issues.
- Prepare, configure and deploy laptops, desktops, peripherals and mobile devices for new starters, replacements and refresh activity.
- Support joiner, mover and leaver processes including account setup, access changes, mailbox configuration and account closure activities.
- Assist with administration of Microsoft 365, Active Directory and business systems.
- Maintain accurate IT records, support documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Provide guidance and basic training to users on IT equipment, Microsoft 365, business applications and safe working practices.
- · Support cyber security and compliance activities.
- · Assist with IT projects, hardware refreshes, software rollouts, system changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an IT Support, Service Desk, Helpdesk or Desktop Support role.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows desktop environments and Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, user account administration, security groups, password resets and basic access management.
- Experience supporting laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, meeting room equipment and common business applications.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication and customer service skills.
Desirable:
- IT support qualification or certification such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or ITIL Foundation.
- Experience working within a hybrid Active Directory with Microsoft 365 environment.
- Experience using a helpdesk or IT service management system.
- Exposure to endpoint management, remote support tools, patching, antivirus or device deployment processes.
- Experience supporting business-critical systems in a manufacturing or operational environment.
