Senior PACS System Administrator

The Clinical Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Administrator provides dedicated onsite and remote PACS administration support for the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton (NHCP) Radiology Department and its outlying clinics. The role supports a mission-critical, hub-and-spoke imaging environment connected with Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), ensuring medical images remain accessible, secure, and available 24/7 to support patient care. The PACS Administrator is responsible for comprehensive PACS system management, maintenance, optimization, user support, issue resolution, analytical reporting, vendor coordination, and collaboration with the hub site during routine operations and agency-wide PACS upgrade activities.

The successful candidate must be PACS-agnostic and able to work effectively across vendor platforms, DICOM viewers, image distribution systems, archives, routing devices, and related accessories, including transition support between existing and new PACS environments.

Place of Performance:

Services will be performed primarily onsite at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton with support to outlying clinics and remote support as operationally required.

· Experience in a clinical imaging environment; multi-site, hub-and-spoke, military treatment facility, or large healthcare enterprise experience strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to operate in a PACS-agnostic environment and support multiple PACS vendor platforms, imaging accessories, DICOM viewers, image distribution tools, archives, and migration or upgrade transitions.

· Strong technical proficiency with DICOM and HL7 standards; familiarity with RIS, EHR, VNA, tele-radiology routing, modality integration, and healthcare interface workflows.

· Proficiency with Windows Server and desktop environments; working knowledge of Linux; familiarity with databases such as SQL and storage technologies such as SAN/NAS, lifecycle management, and archival strategies.

· Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, routing, bandwidth, and quality-of-service considerations for diagnostic imaging environments.

· Experience supporting backup/restore, high availability, disaster recovery readiness, system monitoring, and continuity planning for imaging systems.

· Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, documentation, reporting, and customer support skills.

· Ability to support HIPAA and applicable federal/DoD privacy and security requirements in a clinical information systems environment.

· Ability to provide onsite coverage during core business hours and remote/on-call support 24/7 for critical issues.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
