Job description

The Sr. E-Commerce Developer builds the experiences that power three e-commerce brands, a Shopify Hydrogen storefront and two Shopify themes. Reporting to the Director of E-Commerce, you'll work closely with them on both product direction and technical priorities. The work is hands-on, fast moving, and highly visible: you spot a problem, build the fix, and see the impact quickly.

You'll be the technical backbone across all three brands and the person who decides how they're built, owning the architecture, setting technical direction, and calling build versus buy on the tools and integrations that run the business. You'll help shape the roadmap, not just deliver against it: flagging risk, pushing back on bad ideas, and turning commercial goals into technical strategy.

The ideal candidate is strong across the stack and already builds with AI development tools as part of how they work. You're energized by a wide range of problems, from storefront UX and conversion to data flows, AI features, and internal tools, comfortable operating without heavy process, and motivated by building things that make a small team dramatically more effective.

For the right engineer, this is rare leverage: full ownership of the stack across three brands, a direct line to decision makers, and the room to build things your way, with no bureaucracy between you and shipping., * Build and maintain a headless Shopify/Hydrogen (React) storefront alongside standard Shopify themes

  • Develop and maintain custom Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
  • Build and support custom apps, functionality, and backend services using Node.js, Remix, Shopify APIs, and webhooks
  • Build internal tools and AI-powered workflows that help teams move faster across operations, customer experience, and growth
  • Support third-party integrations like subscriptions, reviews, returns, analytics, fulfillment, ERP/OMS, taxes, and payments
  • Optimize across all three sites for performance, SEO, accessibility, UX, and conversion
  • Troubleshoot and resolve front-end, back-end, API, integration, and production issues
  • Help shape technical strategy and how we use modern tooling, including AI-assisted development, to build faster and operate more effectively

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years hands-on experience building and shipping production applications & Shopify Plus themes
  • Strong React and TypeScript skills
  • Strong command of the Shopify ecosystem, including the Storefront API and Admin API; hands on Hydrogen or headless Shopify experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Node.js, Remix, or similar backend frameworks
  • Experience integrating third party platforms such as Klaviyo, Recharge, or similar tools through APIs and webhooks
  • Active daily use of AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot as part of a real production workflow
  • Solid grasp of e-commerce & DTC fundamentals: performance, SEO, accessibility, UX, and CRO
  • Comfortable with Git, pull requests, and code review
  • Able to work independently, own outcomes end to end, and move from idea to production without heavy process

Preferred:

  • Shopify Plus, Checkout Extensibility, and Shopify Functions
  • Experience building AI or ML features in production, including embeddings, vector databases, or retrieval systems
  • Infrastructure and deployment experience across platforms such as Vercel, Shopify Oxygen, Docker, or AWS Lambda
  • Background in DTC e-commerce or consumer brands
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred

Who You Are:

  • You manage multiple moving pieces well: organized, results oriented, and able to prioritize without being told what to work on next
  • You work effectively across teams and communicate clearly with non technical stakeholders
  • You're motivated by ownership and by building things that make a small team far more effective
