Job description
The IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our IT environment. This is a hands-on, on-site role for a proactive problem-solver who enjoys variety: one day you might be setting up workstations and troubleshooting a large format printer, the next you're building a Power BI report or running a phishing awareness campaign. You'll need to develop a deep understanding of our business processes - the reporting and systems work only makes sense when you understand how the business actually runs. You'll be the go-to person for general computer support and questions, while also getting exposure to reporting, security, and AI-assisted workflow improvements. This role is based in Westborough, MA, with occasional travel to our Falmouth, MA office., End-User & Hardware Support
· Set up and configure workstations, laptops, monitors, and docking stations for new hires and office moves.
· Troubleshoot day-to-day user issues - hardware, email, connectivity, and general "how do I…?" computer questions.
· Support and service printers, including large format printers, and coordinate with vendors for repairs.
· Set up and maintain network equipment and connections, including Ethernet cabling. · Maintain installed software, deploy updates, and teach users how to get the most out of the tools they have.
Reporting
· Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for teams across the company - sales, operations, finance, and leadership.
· Work directly with report users to understand what they need, then translate that into clear, usable dashboards.
· Write and optimize SQL queries against Azure Synapse and Microsoft SQL Server to feed reports and answer ad-hoc data questions.
· Maintain the data behind the reports: datasets, refresh schedules, and data flows from Dynamics 365 / Business Central into Synapse.
· Investigate and resolve data discrepancies - when a number looks wrong, you're the one who traces it back to the source.
· Improve and automate recurring reporting using Power Automate and AI tools where they save time.
Systems
· Provision and manage user accounts in Microsoft 365, including license assignment. · Support Dynamics 365 / Business Central users and serve as point of contact for vendor escalations.
· Explore and apply AI tools to improve internal workflows and reduce repetitive work. Security
· Review system logs and antivirus alerts; assist with general security monitoring (Microsoft Sentinel, Entra, Meraki).
· Run user security awareness training, including phishing simulation campaigns.
Requirements
· 3-5 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or a similar hands-on technical role.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration (user management, Exchange, Teams, licensing).
· Strong troubleshooting instincts - comfortable researching and solving problems on your own, since you'll be the only IT person on-site.
· Ability to explain technical things patiently to non-technical users, and to teach, not just fix.
· Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally between company locations as needed.
· Experience building reports and dashboards with Power BI, Azure Synapse, or similar BI/reporting tools. Nice to Have (we'll help you grow into these)
· Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL queries.
· Familiarity with Dynamics 365 and/or Business Central.
· Experience with Microsoft Intune device management.
· Exposure to security monitoring, antivirus management, or phishing simulation tools (e.g., Sentinel, Entra).
· Interest in AI tools and workflow automation.
