Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled CAE HPC Systems Administrator to manage, optimize, and support enterprise-level High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments dedicated to Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) workloads.
This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, availability, and performance of HPC clusters while supporting CAE applications, job scheduling systems, and underlying Linux infrastructure., HPC Job Scheduling & Workload Management
- Administer, configure, and optimize HPC job scheduling environments, including IBM Spectrum LSF, OpenPBS, Slurm, or equivalent schedulers.
- Configure and tune job queues, resource allocation policies, and scheduling strategies to support diverse CAE workloads.
- Monitor system performance and utilization trends and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and throughput.
CAE Application & License Support
- Install, upgrade, test, and support CAE applications and engineering simulation tools in production environments.
- Provide integration support between CAE applications and HPC scheduling systems.
- Manage CAE software licensing systems such as FlexLM/FlexNet and RLM.
- Troubleshoot CAE application and licensing issues while minimizing disruption to engineering teams.
Linux Systems Administration & Automation
- Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments across HPC clusters.
- Perform OS provisioning, deployment, patching, and upgrades using automated tools such as PXE and configuration management solutions.
- Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, Korn Shell, C Shell, Perl, Awk, or equivalent scripting languages.
- Automate system monitoring, health checks, maintenance, and routine administrative tasks.
- Maintain system logs, monitoring processes, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
Hardware & Infrastructure Management
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to servers, storage systems, and high-performance networking.
- Support technologies such as InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet.
- Support hardware installation, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle activities.
- Perform capacity planning based on system utilization, business requirements, and future demand.
Operations, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Perform system health checks, monitoring, and incident tracking for HPC and CAE environments.
- Document system configurations, procedures, incidents, and operational best practices.
- Track outages, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Follow change management processes for system updates and deployments.
- Provide reporting on system utilization, incidents, availability, and performance.
- Support infrastructure and engineering technology projects as required.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong Linux Systems Administration, HPC workload management, and CAE application support experience, along with a solid understanding of engineering simulation environments., * 3+ years of experience in Linux Systems Administration, preferably in RHEL environments.
- Hands-on experience administering HPC clusters and job schedulers such as IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm, PBS/OpenPBS, or similar.
- Proven experience supporting and integrating CAE applications in HPC environments.
- Strong scripting experience with Bash, Shell, Perl, or equivalent.
- Experience with OS deployment, patching, automation, and configuration management.
- Strong understanding of enterprise server hardware, storage, and networking.
- Experience with CAE/simulation applications such as Ansys, LS-DYNA, Nastran, or similar tools.
- Experience with HPC/high-performance networking technologies such as InfiniBand is a plus.
- Experience developing internal tools, utilities, or dashboards using PHP or web-based technologies is a plus.
