Job description

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll support our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer as a Data Engineer III. In this role, you'll design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines that power analytics, reporting, and advanced data-driven solutions across the organization. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data analysts, data scientists, and application developers, to build reliable and efficient data architectures that enable timely access to trusted data.

How Will you Make an Impact:

You will be responsible for developing and optimizing ETL/ELT processes, integrating data from diverse enterprise systems, and ensuring the quality, security, and governance of data assets. Leveraging modern cloud technologies and data engineering best practices, you'll build scalable data solutions that support operational excellence, business intelligence, and strategic initiatives. You'll continuously improve data infrastructure by identifying opportunities for automation, performance optimization, and enhanced reliability while ensuring compliance with enterprise data standards.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Databricks, or equivalent) are a plus

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong experience with Python or other programming languages used for data engineering

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions

  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, data warehouses, and modern data lake/lakehouse architectures

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques, including dimensional modeling and data architecture best practices

  • Experience implementing data quality, validation, monitoring, and observability processes

  • Understanding of data governance, metadata management, security, and regulatory compliance principles

  • Experience integrating data from enterprise applications, APIs, streaming platforms, and diverse structured and unstructured data sources

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize data performance and reliability

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong customer focus and commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable data solutions

  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, healthcare, or life sciences industry preferred

  • Any other duties as required in line with business need.
