Job description

  • Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of our platform and infrastructure
  • Design and maintain scalable, cloud-native infrastructure and platform tooling on GCP
  • Automate and improve our infrastructure and operational workflows
  • Collaborate with our core development team to design and deliver platform solutions that support product development
  • Build and maintain self-service platform capabilities that enable teams to deploy and operate their services
  • Help maintain high engineering standards through best practices, tooling, and documentation
  • Participate in a paid on-call rotation to support the reliability and availability of our platform

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a majority of the following concepts:
  • Containerisation, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, with a focus on Debian and RHEL/CentOS
  • Experience with cloud service providers such as Google Cloud Platform and AWS; knowledge of Azure would be beneficial
  • Infrastructure as Code best practices, particularly Terraform
  • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Packer
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes, especially Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and FluxCD
  • Scripting or programming experience in Python, Bash, Perl, or Golang
  • Database experience, primarily MySQL
  • Experience with CDNs, particularly Fastly, would be beneficial
  • Exposure to physical infrastructure, including physical and wireless networking and security
  • Experience with email infrastructure and SMTP services, such as Postfix, including mail delivery, routing, and troubleshooting
  • Must be able to work in the UK unrestricted for at least the next 5 years; we cannot accept applications requiring sponsorship now or in the future
