Job description

A large enterprise organization is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer and Platform Administrator to oversee the technical design, configuration, development, governance, and daily operation of its ServiceNow platform.

This position combines senior-level ServiceNow development with platform administration and technical leadership. The successful candidate will build custom applications, develop complex integrations, automate enterprise workflows, manage platform upgrades, maintain CMDB health, and ensure the platform remains secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

The role will also partner directly with business users, IT leadership, vendors, and technical teams to translate operational requirements into effective ServiceNow solutions. Hybrid Schedule

This position requires eight onsite days each month What You'll Do

  • Lead the technical design, development, configuration, and administration of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Build custom applications, workflows, and platform features using JavaScript, GlideRecord, GlideAjax, Business Rules, Script Includes, and Client Scripts.
  • Develop enterprise automations using Flow Designer, Orchestration, IntegrationHub, and legacy workflow functionality.
  • Design and support integrations between ServiceNow and external platforms using REST APIs, SOAP APIs, MID Servers, and related integration technologies.
  • Manage platform upgrades, release activities, technical audits, testing, troubleshooting, and environment maintenance.
  • Administer users, roles, access controls, system properties, data policies, and platform security.
  • Establish and enforce development, data management, access control, and platform governance standards.
  • Maintain CMDB accuracy, data quality, configuration-item relationships, and alignment with the Common Service Data Model.
  • Define current-state and future-state platform architecture to support scalability and reduce technical debt.
  • Gather requirements directly from business users and translate them into technical workflows and platform solutions.
  • Partner with internal teams, vendors, and external service providers to implement and maintain tools and integrations.
  • Communicate project status, risks, technical dependencies, and issues to management and key stakeholders.
  • Support the coordination and communication of major incidents across the enterprise.
  • Maintain and improve Incident, Problem, Change, and related IT service management processes in accordance with ITIL practices.
  • Define and update service-level agreements, escalation procedures, incident thresholds, and communication templates.
  • Use Continual Improvement Management to document, prioritize, and deliver process improvements across ITSM, HRSD, ITOM, and related functions.
  • Create Performance Analytics frameworks, executive dashboards, and operational reports measuring incident volume, duration, mean time to resolution, SLA performance, and recurring issues.
  • Present platform performance, service trends, and improvement opportunities during operational and quarterly service reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation, self-service tools, and improved platform capabilities.

Requirements

Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position., * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Five or more years of experience in IT service management, including at least four years of hands-on ServiceNow development and administration.
  • Advanced ServiceNow development experience using JavaScript and ServiceNow APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience creating Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, custom applications, and complex platform features.
  • Strong experience with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Orchestration, workflows, and enterprise automation.
  • Experience designing and supporting REST, SOAP, MID Server, and third-party platform integrations.
  • Hands-on experience administering user roles, access controls, data policies, system properties, and platform security.
  • Experience managing ServiceNow upgrades, technical audits, release activities, and mature enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of CMDB, CSDM, configuration management, and data-quality practices.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL processes, particularly Incident, Problem, Change, and Continual Improvement Management.
  • Experience developing dashboards and reports using Performance Analytics and Platform Analytics.
  • Strong requirements-gathering, documentation, stakeholder-management, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to independently design high-code solutions when standard platform functionality does not meet the business requirement.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with Azure, SailPoint, enterprise monitoring tools, or identity and access management platforms.
  • Experience supporting ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, or related ServiceNow modules.
  • Experience defining platform architecture, governance frameworks, coding standards, and development controls.
  • Experience leading platform stabilization, modernization, or transition initiatives.
  • Experience supporting major incident management in a complex enterprise environment.

Certifications

The following certifications are strongly preferred:

  • ITIL Foundation certification or higher
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in ITSM
  • ServiceNow certifications related to CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping, ITOM, or other relevant modules

Benefits & conditions

The expected salary range for this position is $115,000-$125,000 annually. Final compensation will be based on experience, technical qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
