Job description

Provide deep technical expertise to support delivery and maintenance of IT solutions. Provide IT teams and business personnel with technology solutions by weighing advantages of technology standards, market availability of products, and risks and benefits of technology to meet business/IT needs. Significant customer engagement, work planning, project management services provided to IT customers. Expected to work under minimal supervision., * Undertakes complex database projects requiring specialized technical knowledge. Makes well thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous database issues.

  • Provide technical database expertise and/or solution delivery support for maintaining performance and reliability of database solutions.
  • Maintain and enhance engagement with business and IT partners to determine requirements in support of service levels and project commitments.
  • Build and maintains knowledge of new technologies or technology opportunities and assists in development of analysis for business and/or IT clients.
  • Participate in relevant IT Architecture Domain Groups to appropriately review and plan the introduction of new database technologies. Ensure appropriate implementation of technology both within the production and the development environments. Establishes and communicates common technical goals/direction for team.
  • Provide performance evaluations, career development feedback, and recognition. Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.
  • Investigate and resolve database incidents involving performance issues, failed jobs, data replication/CDC processes, user access, and application connectivity.
  • Execute database maintenance, refreshes, deployments, partition management, statistics maintenance, and production support activities following change management processes
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, and data teams to improve database reliability, monitoring, automation, and operational maturity across enterprise platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 8+ years hands-on experience in one or more database technologies (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Broad technical expertise with deep technical knowledge in one or more database technologies (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Excellent communications skills -Able to effectively communicate highly technical information in nontechnical terminology (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of change management principles associated with new technology implementations.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Understands and applies project management principles when leading and directing work, * Experience supporting and administering SQL Server 2022/2025, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and hybrid database environments with a focus on availability, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and modern data platform technologies supporting data ingestion, analytics, and enterprise data pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of database monitoring, observability, and performance tuning across SQL Server and Azure data services using cloud-native monitoring tools.
  • Experience automating database administration and operational processes using PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, Azure CLI, or Infrastructure-as-Code practices., >2 years

Expected salary range of $144,000 to $160,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
