This role is responsible for the architecture, reliability, security, and continued modernization of HDR's Azure infrastructure across production, disaster recovery, and non-production environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Azure architect who can lead complex technical efforts and collaborate effectively with specialized application, database, Linux, security, networking, and integration teams.

  • Lead the design, maintenance, and evolution of HDR's Microsoft Azure Government infrastructure across production, disaster recovery, and non-production environments.
  • Design and configure Azure networking and infrastructure components, including virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, application gateways, load balancers, traffic managers, virtual machines, storage, private connectivity, and supporting services.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure architecture, technical designs, diagrams, implementation plans, test plans, operational procedures, and transition documentation.
  • Support security improvements involving network segmentation, IP allow-listing, TLS and certificate management, identity and access controls, service principals, encryption, logging, and vulnerability management.
  • Investigate complex infrastructure, connectivity, performance, and production issues that cross network, operating-system, middleware, application, and database boundaries.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and root-cause analysis with application developers, WebLogic administrators, Oracle DBAs, Linux administrators, security personnel, network teams, and external integration partners.
  • Support high availability, disaster recovery, capacity management, platform resiliency, and continuity-of-operations planning, including disaster-recovery exercises.
  • Support operating-system and infrastructure lifecycle initiatives, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux upgrades, patching, platform migrations, and retirement of obsolete components.
  • Evaluate and support cloud-native modernization initiatives, including application-tier containerization, messaging modernization, and Kubernetes-based platforms such as AKS or OpenShift.
  • Improve monitoring and operational visibility using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Dynatrace, Prisma Cloud, or comparable observability and security platforms.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible.
  • Coordinate customer connectivity and infrastructure changes, including endpoint configuration, firewall requests, access validation, integration testing, architecture reviews, and change planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or commensurate professional experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, systems engineering, or technical architecture, including at least 4 years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure infrastructure and networking, including virtual networks, subnets, Network Security Groups, load balancing, virtual machines, storage, identity, and access control.
  • Experience designing or supporting highly available, security-sensitive enterprise systems across multiple environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure, network, operating-system, application, and database boundaries.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security principles, including network segmentation, least-privilege access, TLS, certificates, encryption, logging, and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to create clear architecture diagrams, technical designs, implementation plans, test documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Azure Government, VAEC, or another regulated government cloud environment.
