Experteer Overview As Windows System Engineer, you design and sustain Windows and VMware environments to ensure high availability, security, and cost-efficiency in a healthcare setting. You will work with cross-functional teams to align on-premises and cloud solutions, supporting clinical, research, and admin functions. The role emphasizes architecture, automation, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA/NIST). You'll operate within a skilled team at Michigan Medicine to scale and secure enterprise infrastructure. Compensation / Benefits * Provide senior-level direction on overall systems architecture with focus on Public/Hybrid Cloud, Continuity & Resiliency, Windows OS, VMware, and Automation * Design and implement solutions integrating multiple platforms and applications across the enterprise * Evaluate technologies, options, risks, costs, and SLAs to support business goals * Collaborate with business analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and refine designs * Develop and maintain technical architecture artifacts and standards for changes to technology * Lead and contribute to enterprise-wide projects and special assignments; mentor junior staff * Support automated Windows build processes for on-prem and cloud workloads using PowerShell, XAML, and Ansible Automation Platform * Participate in capacity management discussions to determine scalable models and meet service level requirements * Provide technical guidance to project teams and on-call operations Tasks * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience * 5+ years in engineering support of large, highly available Windows architectures (2016, 2022, 2025) * 5+ years in a role requiring customer service, prioritization, and troubleshooting within enterprise architecture * Experience with PowerShell scripting Key requirements * comprehensive training and career development opportunities * retirement savings plans * ample paid time off * family care support * pre-employment background screening * drug testing
