Job description

Pearson Carter are currently working with a market-leading travel organisation that is investing heavily in its in-house technology team. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced PHP Developer to help drive the development of their customer-facing platforms and internal systems. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business where technology plays a key role in its future. You'll work with modern PHP technologies, cloud infrastructure, APIs and microservices, contributing to large-scale projects while collaborating with a close-knit development team.   • Develop, maintain and enhance backend applications using PHP and Symfony.
  • Design and develop REST APIs and microservices for internal and external integrations.
  • Build scalable, secure and high-performing applications.
  • Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, CloudWatch and RDS.
  • Collaborate with developers, stakeholders and other business teams to deliver new features.
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code following best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Work within an Agile development environment to deliver projects on time.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Around 3 years' commercial experience developing with PHP.

  • Strong experience with the Symfony Framework.

  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.

  • Experience working with Linux and NGINX environments.

  • Strong understanding of Git version control.

  • Good knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively. Desirable

  • Experience with React, Webpack and modern JavaScript (ES6).

  • Knowledge of Redis and SOLR.

  • Experience with website performance optimisation.

  • Familiarity with SEO best practices.

  • Experience with Google Tag Manager.

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Benefits & conditions

Salary is dependent on experience but is looking to pay between £40,000 - £50,000., + Annual performance bonus.
