Job description

Experteer Overview As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the development and integration of modular simulation and modeling software within an IPT framework. You'll guide architecture and best practices, drive verification, performance, and CI/CD initiatives, and coordinate with systems and test teams to translate requirements into robust simulation capabilities. This role sits on the Models & Simulation team in support of mission-critical aerospace systems. You will shape technical directions and demonstrate solutions through demonstrations and documentation, on-site in San Diego or OKC. Compensation / Benefits * Provide technical leadership for development, implementation, and maintenance of modular simulation and modeling software (C++, Python) * Lead integration of simulation components with system interfaces, middleware, and test harnesses; ensure real-time data flows and interoperability * Define and oversee verification and validation strategies; review tests and drive defect resolution to maintain model fidelity * Drive performance and scalability optimization; prioritize profiling and tuning; champion CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, tests, and deployments * Coordinate with systems engineers, testers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into simulation capabilities; review documentation; lead presentations and demos * Operate on-site full-time; participate in on-site collaboration with cross-functional teams Tasks * Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR Master's in STEM and 6 years; OR PhD and 4 years * Experience with full SDLC * Proficiency in C/C++ and Python * Experience developing multi-threaded software * Experience with two or more of the following tools: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Gitlab, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, or Coverity * Experience with Agile software development, embedded systems, SW integration and testing * Familiarity with at least one wire data interface (e.g., 1553, 1394, Serial, CAN, Ethernet/IP) * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interface with all levels of staff * Software architecture, design, implementation, integration, and debugging of C++ on RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity) or Real-Time Embedded Linux * Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and test engineers * Active in-scope U.S. Government Top Secret clearance; ability to obtain SAP/PAR * Preferred: SAP clearance; Top Secret SCI clearance with recent BI; strong leadership and documentation skills * Experience with Java and architecture visualization is a plus * Ability to identify coordination between embedded components and larger systems Key requirements * health insurance * life and disability insurance * savings plan * paid holidays * PTO for vacation/personal time * discretionary bonus
