Experteer Overview In this role, you help expand McGraw Hill Connect by building scalable back-end systems and APIs for web and mobile learning experiences. You will serve as the technical expert across product, sales, marketing, and engineering teams to shape a holistic product vision. You'll tackle performance, reliability, and security challenges while collaborating with cross-functional partners. Compensation / Benefits * Design, build, test, and maintain scalable back-end systems and APIs for web and mobile apps * Translate product requirements into high-quality software under engineering leadership * Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver platform functionality * Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews and automated testing * Optimize server performance, database queries, and system scalability for reliability * Support monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution using observability tools; participate in off-hours support when needed * Drive continuous improvement by adopting modern tools, technologies, and methodologies * Share knowledge, mentor juniors, and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture Tasks * 5+ years of software engineering or back-end development experience * Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or Go * Experience designing REST APIs and building microservices in low-latency, high-availability environments * Strong database knowledge (relational like PostgreSQL/MySQL; non-relational like MongoDB/DynamoDB) * Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation) * Knowledge of system performance optimization, caching, and distributed systems * Experience with observability/monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog) and CI/CD DevOps practices * Familiarity with web security best practices and OWASP guidelines Key requirements * remote work * medical benefits * annual bonus plan * competitive pay
