Job description
Experteer Overview In this role you ensure stable, fast, and secure database infrastructure in support of national security programs. You will work within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services team to build reliable platforms, automate repetitive tasks, and optimize performance and security across multiple database technologies. The position offers hands-on work with cloud, containerization, and cross-platform migrations, with opportunities to lead modernization efforts at the SES.2-SES.3 levels. You'll collaborate across teams to improve observability and incident response, shaping resilient data services for NSE programs. Compensation / Benefits * Build and operate reliable database platforms with monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement * Automate provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, and compliance to reduce outages * Provide DBA support for Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB * Design, implement, and migrate DB systems using cloud, containers, and cross-platform approaches * Create non-production environments for development and QA * Tune queries and data models to improve performance and cybersecurity posture * Develop dashboards, alerts, and runbooks; participate in incident response and post-incident reviews * Support enterprise COTS application configuration and triage * Perform additional duties as assigned * SES.3 level: lead complex reliability, automation, and modernization efforts * SES.3 level: provide architectural direction for observability, resilience, and recovery * SES.3 level: act as technical resource for advanced troubleshooting and optimization * SES.3 level: influence standards and long-term improvements for database operations and cybersecurity posture Tasks * Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance (U.S. citizenship) * Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience * Experience with automation/orchestration to build, provision, patch, and secure database services * Proven practice of Database Reliability Engineering across availability, performance, scalability, and recovery * Experience administering application servers (WebLogic, Tomcat) in production * Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL in production * Experience with Windows and/or Linux administration, storage integration, backups, and recovery * Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Oracle Enterprise Manager, Datadog, Grafana, SQL Server Management Studio, Icinga) * Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team * Willingness to work outside normal hours and on-site presence required * SES.3 level: advanced leadership, automation, and modernization experience * SES.3 level: advanced troubleshooting across multiple layers * Experience with containerization and cloud-based migrations * Experience with development tools/languages such as SQL, Java, Python, Oracle Forms/Reports * Experience with Ansible, SCCM, Python, Unix/PowerShell scripting (desireable) * Experience with containerization to deliver services in secure, compliant environments Key requirements * Flexible Benefits Package * 401(k) * Relocation Assistance * Education Reimbursement Program * Flexible schedules * on-site/hybrid work options
