Director Software Engineering Management

Experteer Overview In this Director of Engineering role, you will lead teams building AI-native, assistive enterprise software for IT service and operations management. You'll shape the technical strategy and architecture, guiding large-scale distributed systems and data-driven product delivery. You'll drive experiments, measure outcomes, and ensure value realization for customers at enterprise scale. You'll partner across Product, Design, Security, Operations, Sales, and Customer Success to align roadmaps with security and compliance goals. This is an opportunity to influence the AI-native evolution of ServiceNow's Service Operations portfolio and create safer, more productive enterprise operations. Compensation / Benefits * Lead and grow engineering teams focused on AI-native evolution within ITSM/ITOM products * Own technical strategy and delivery; set architectural direction and ensure quality and reliability * Hire, coach, and develop engineers, tech leads, and managers; build inclusive, high-performing teams * Drive evidence-based decision-making with experiments and data to guide architecture and product direction * Lead evolution toward AI-native capabilities; identify agentic patterns and autonomous workflows to unlock customer value * Identify and address value realization gaps; diagnose root causes and implement targeted improvements * Establish architecture patterns, engineering standards, and operating rhythms; document tradeoffs and rationale * Collaborate with ITSM/ITOM teams to share learnings and accelerate adoption of patterns * Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, Operations, Sales, and Customer Success to align on roadmap, security, and compliance Tasks * 15+ years of engineering experience * 5+ years leading and managing engineering teams * Experience with large-scale distributed systems, enterprise platforms, or cloud-scale infrastructure * Strong design focus on scale, reliability, observability, data quality, security, and production readiness * Proficiency in Java, Python, or similar languages * Ability to define technical direction and translate strategy into executable plans * Proven success in hiring and developing engineers and leaders * Ability to influence across multiple organizations and maintain alignment * Experience mentoring senior engineers and building reusable patterns * Experience with AI-powered products or agentic systems preferred * Knowledge of enterprise service management, IT operations, CMDB, discovery, AIOps, observability, or workflow automation a plus * Experience with large-scale enterprise customers and complex migrations a plus Key requirements * base pay plus equity * variable/incentive compensation * health plans * RRSP plan with company match * ESPP * annual vacation 20 days
