Experteer Overview As a Staff Software Engineer at Booz Allen, you shape and deliver data-intensive software through architecture-driven, end-to-end development. You will design and build near real-time, distributed systems while mentoring peers and driving technical direction. You'll own significant capabilities from design to deployment, collaborating with product owners and customers to translate evolving requirements into reliable software. This role offers autonomy, impact, and exposure to challenging defense- and aviation-focused problems. You work across the stack to balance performance, scalability, and development velocity. Compensation / Benefits * Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain production software across the stack * Build scalable, distributed, event-driven near-real-time systems using TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and Next.js * Create REST APIs, backend services, data pipelines, and distributed messaging with Kafka * Optimize PostgreSQL data models and access patterns * Develop containerized apps with Docker and deploy on AWS, Azure, or GCP * Maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Jenkins * Contribute to architecture, establish engineering standards, and balance performance, reliability, maintainability, and velocity * Troubleshoot complex issues across application, infrastructure, networking, and data layers * Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and translate requirements into practical solutions * Take ownership of major technical capabilities from design through deployment and support Tasks * 12+ years of professional software engineering experience * 5+ years with TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and RESTful API design * 5+ years in event-driven, near-real-time, distributed architectures * 4+ years with Docker and PostgreSQL * 3+ years with Next.js, Kafka, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) * 3+ years designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Jenkins) and providing technical leadership * Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, testing, debugging, and operations * Ability to solve complex technical problems independently with minimal direction * Ability to obtain a Secret clearance * Bachelor's degree Key requirements * health, life, disability, and retirement benefits * paid leave * professional development and tuition assistance * work-life programs * dependent care * recognition awards
