Sr Specialist - Software Development & Engineering

Experteer Overview In this role you will design and modernize cloud-ready Research solutions at Schwab, collaborating with architects to build scalable, API-driven platforms. You will enhance research applications with Java Springboot microservices and event-driven architectures, while supporting data pipelines and dashboards. The role emphasizes agile collaboration, DevOps mindset, and mentoring junior engineers as you shape the future of research tech in finance. Compensation / Benefits * Design and develop cloud-ready research applications * Modernize and improve user experience in collaboration with architects * Build scalable RESTful APIs for research data delivery * Work with Java Springboot microservices and RabbitMQ for event-driven processing * Develop Angular-based UI and Python/Plotly Dash dashboards * Support and uplift research data pipelines and model infrastructure (Python, Matlab, Kotlin) * Implement data migrations and database solutions (SQL/NoSQL) * Enable cloud data lake platform initiatives and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Bamboo) * Provide level 2/3 production support and drive DevOps practices * Mentor junior team members and promote collaboration and accountability in Agile teams Tasks * Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field * 5 years of progressive experience in a related occupation * Experience designing Java Springboot microservices and event-driven platforms * Experience building scalable RESTful APIs with enterprise integration patterns * Proficiency with RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication * Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB) * Proficiency in Python, Matlab, and Kotlin for research capabilities * Experience with Angular and JavaScript for responsive UI * Cloud development and deployment on PCF or similar platforms; Linux VMs * CI/CD with Bamboo and GitHub; Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) Key requirements * 401(k) w/ company match * employee stock purchase plan * paid vacation * volunteering * sabbatical after 5 years * tuition reimbursement
