Building secure over-the-air software updates for embedded systems and IoT devices.

Eystein Stenberg focuses on making sure software updates don’t break hardware in the field. He is the CTO of NorthernTech and the creator of Mender, a tool for over-the-air updates on connected devices.

He spends his time solving security and lifecycle challenges for embedded systems and IoT devices. His work explores what happens when artificial intelligence leaves the datacenter and runs on constrained hardware—where power is limited, connectivity drops, and shipping an update means reaching physical machines.
