Jirka Bachel builds deterministic metrics for software teams at Navigara. After 15 years as a CTO trying to explain engineering delivery to boards based on gut feeling, he decided to fix how we measure output.
He created the scoring model behind Engineering Throughput Value. Instead of relying on story points, his method reads merged commits and rates each change by the actual depth of work it represents. He recently used this approach to benchmark engineering speed at Google and Meta.
He splits his time between San Francisco and his engineering team in Prague.
