Lee Edwards funds technical founders building developer tools, infrastructure, and AI. At San Francisco’s Root Ventures, he writes first checks for teams tackling difficult engineering problems.
Before moving into venture capital, Lee built software and managed teams firsthand. His background includes serving as CTO at Teespring and engineering roles at Pivotal, Groupon, and iRobot. He frequently explores the future of code generation, most recently questioning whether companies will keep buying software once AI can simply build it.
Lee also sits on the Board of Trustees at Olin College, where he previously studied engineering.
