Neel Sundaresan
Builds AI developer tools at IBM. Creator of IBM’s Bob and Microsoft's Intellicode.
Neel Sundaresan leads AI products and developer tools at IBM. He created Bob, IBM’s AI development partner, and championed the concept of teaching machines to code. While at Microsoft, he built Intellicode, the early AI assistant that ultimately evolved into GitHub Copilot.
Before his current role, Neel ran eBay Research and Data Labs and developed IBM’s earliest search engine at the Almaden Research Center. His work spans computer vision, search, and human-computer interaction.
He holds over 320 patents and has published more than 150 research papers. He earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University.
