Vitaly Friedman leads UX at Smashing Magazine, the platform he co-founded in 2006 for designers and developers. He also builds digital tools as a UX lead for the European Parliament.
His work tackles interface systems, performance optimization, and accessibility. Lately, he is figuring out how to build better AI products, moving past walls of text and clunky chat prompts to design patterns people actually want to use. He teaches these interaction concepts through his own UX video courses.
Born in Minsk, he studied computer science and mathematics in Germany before trading late-night algebra proofs for typography.
