The festive season is in full swing, and alongside the smell of delicious biscuits, hot chocolate and mulled wine, it's also the season of giving and bringing joy.
Following the heartwarming support from last year, we have asked our tonies® employees to help us again this year to fulfill Christmas wishes of children and young people whose circumstances are not so easy and who currently live in Housing Groups of Diakonie Düsseldorf.
The support in the last weeks was overwhelming. We collected 71 lovely wrapped Christmas presents, which we have now handed over and brought some smiles and warmth into their lives. 🎁🎄
3,000 tonies accounts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the UK can now test our enhanced AI Storyteller. Families can create personalized stories and instantly listen to them on the Toniebox.
At tonies®, it has always been our mission to provide kids with access to technology in a responsible and child-friendly way. With our AI-based story generator, kids can tap into their unlimited creativity and keen sense of storytelling.
💡 Families can choose the age of the child, the names of the heroes, the type of story, and the combination of themes (such as friendship, courage, or adventure).
🎤 Dr. Christian Sprinkmeyer, our Chief Product Officer (CPO), said: “The feedback from our initial UK test was overwhelmingly positive: kids and parents loved the stories created with their own children's names as heroes. Families also said that their children's creativity was enhanced, and their understanding of artificial intelligence increased.”
Feedback from the first round of testing in the UK has been implemented and the tool has been improved:
✔ Longer stories (around 10 minutes instead of 3)
✔ Continuation of the story with more episodes
✔ Sound effects
✔ Story creation with a multi-step process that guides families through the input screen
Taking another (little) step towards Sustainability: We're now able to save approximately 0.6 tons of CO2 and 0.3 tons of packaging material per year by optimizing our transportation routes for large returns.
📢 Following the successful implementation of the “pre-loved” Tonieboxes, our program to re-activate returned Tonieboxes, we are excited to announce the next step to improve the sustainability profile of the pre-loved Tonieboxes: By adjusting transportation routes directly to our refurbishment partner, we will save 0.6 tons of CO2 and an additional 0.3 tons of packaging material per year.
🌳 This move demonstrates our strong motivation to continuously review our operations and reduce our CO2-footprint. We truly believe that it's also the small steps that lead to fundamental change and can make a big difference.
