Job description
As such, Beicip-Franlab offers an internship dedicated to the search for an innovative way to compute dynamic-related statistics on static models.
In more detail, the following elements will be studied:
- Tests on several geostatistic algorithms
- Data mining, possibly using AI/ML approaches
- Dynamic parameters computation
The objective of this internship is to construct a model (stratigraphic and thermal) that is representative of the subsurface processes of the selected geological province and can be used as a tool to inform on Geothermal and CO2 Storage Applications.
Main tasks undertaken during the internship
- Data selection, quality control and scientific literature review
- Various tests concerning geostatistical algorithms
- Search for permeability metrics, topological parameters and geometrical parameters to be computed at the model scale, works could be conducted on geobodies characterization and possibly flow lines
- Data mining and multivariate statistics
- Dynamic models selection and analysis
- Writing and construction of relevant supportive material (report, slides) to document the results
The internship will be supervised by a senior geologist and a senior reservoir engineer.
Software used
Static modeling software (Petrel), dynamic modeling softwares (Eclipse, PumaFlow, TNavigator), data mining softwares (python, R…etc)
Requirements
Do you have a Master's degree?, Final year student enrolled in a master's degree program with geosciences skills. Fast learner, autonomous and eagerness to understand and master technical softwares. Knowledge about coding (Python and/or R), mathematical geology, modeling or geostatistics will be a benefit.
