Job description

Are you someone who loves getting under the bonnet of an IT system that should work better than it does? We're looking for a proactive IT Systems & Data Manager to take ownership of our group's technology and data - ensuring systems perform, data is accurate, and management reports are meaningful.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can spot inefficiencies, put better processes in place and isn't afraid to challenge existing ways of working. You'll review current system setup, resolve ongoing data and reporting issues, and - if needed, recommend alternative platforms that better serve a multi-site operation.

What you'll do:

  • Review and optimise existing IT and data systems across 5 UK sites
  • Implement clear data input and reporting procedures to improve accuracy
  • Work closely with Operations and Finance to ensure management reporting is fit for purpose
  • Manage third-party IT providers and system suppliers
  • Lead IT projects, integrations and potential system replacement programmes, * Can you tell us about one software / system development project you've led (or heavily contributed to), including your role, the timeline and key technical decisions?
  • What development / software methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, DevOps) have you used, and which do you prefer? Why?
  • When a project's scope changes mid-development, how do you assess impact and manage the change with stakeholders, deadlines, and the dev team?
  • In a project you've managed, how did you ensure that data entered by your team was accurate and delivered on time? And if you noticed recurring errors or delays, how did you persuade or motivate the team to improve data quality and timeliness?
  • Are you happy being office based 4 days per week?
  • Do you live within a reasonable commute to Rossendale?

Requirements

Do you have experience in Power BI?, * Experienced IT or Systems Manager with a strong data focus

  • Confident working across multiple sites and stakeholder groups
  • Skilled in Microsoft 365, databases, reporting tools (Excel/Power BI), and system management
  • Practical problem-solver who can translate business needs into technology improvements
  • Knowledge of the plant hire, construction, or logistics sector is a plus

Benefits & conditions

A chance to take the lead on improving a core business system and shape future digital direction for a respected, growing group. Competitive package, supportive leadership and the freedom to make things work better.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £50,000.00 per year
