Job description
As an Application Support Engineer you will gain an indepth understanding of the product you are supporting (trading systems) and provide technical support on issues, assisting Quants and Traders and ensuring they have the technology required. You'll be hands-on problem solving but also take a high level view, identifying any recurring problems, writing scripts to make fixes and collaborating with engineers on longer term solutions and product developments.
Requirements
Do you have a first class education combined with advanced technical problem solving and customer service skills?, You have an outstanding record of academic achievement - 2.1 degree in Computer Science (or closely related discipline) from a top tier university (i.e. Russel Group or top 100 global university), backed by A grades at A-levelYou have experience within a finance / trading / hedge fund environmentYou have L2 / L3 technical support experienceYou have strong SQL coding skillsYou have experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Victoria Metrics), scheduling tools (Control-M), Operating Systems (Windows / Linux), Kubernetes, cloud platforms (Azure), issue tracking and source control (JIRA, Git, Bitbucket).You're capable of identifying recurring issues and proactive in addressing themYou're collaborative with excellent communication skillsYou enjoy problem solving and fixing things

You'll join colleagues in brand new Central Newcastle offices on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday), working hours 0900-1800 with some flexibility. The offices are well equipped and offer fantastic views across the City and the local countryside, many employees walk or cycle in (onsite showers available!).
