Job description

Reporting into the Director of Platform Operations, as an DevOps Engineer, you will be a critical part of the DevOps team supporting the client's application platform, providing services to our customers around the globe. You'll be expected to engage with all areas of the business including 1st/2nd line application support team, infrastructure team and our development team to help solve any issues that arise., The client is expanding its DevOps team to provide 24/7 coverage for our global clients, you will also be expected to participate in the team shift/on-call rota which supports our maintenance, scheduled work, support and release/deployment requirements. This is a role focussed on supporting the delivery and service improvement of a leading software platform, prior experience working for a SaaS provider would be desirable.

Requirements

  • Experience in deployment automation, monitoring and maintaining large-scale services with various underlying dependencies in a complex environment

  • Strong knowledge/experience with Application and Infrastructure Delivery automation, orchestration and configuration management.

  • Orchestration/Config Management Tools such as Puppet, Chef, Powershell DSC or Ansible

  • Container technologies eg Docker or Kubernetes

  • Java Web Application development/support background

  • Ability to code and script in languages such as Ruby, Java, JS, Python, SQL

  • Windows Server 2016, Powershell. DNS/AD.

  • Apache HTTP Web Server; installation, configuration, troubleshooting. SSL Certificates. Apache Tomcat; configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning,

  • MS SQL Server 2016; understanding of SQL queries, maintenance plans, alerting

  • Ability to analyse application and server logs, error interpretation

Essential skills/experience:

  • Typically 5 years' experience of supporting web application systems

  • Experience of ITIL processes and practises

  • Worked in enterprise scale operations environments using Scrum and Agile Thorough and logical with attention to detail

  • Good understanding of Infrastructure technical architecture

  • Understanding of web server security and common threat methods, * Security focused: aware of the Cyber Security landscape and relevant certifications. (ISO27001, GDPR, HIPAA, Cyber Essentials)

  • Experience working within a product-based SaaS company.

  • Experience in a high-demand multi-project environment

  • Developing and using logging systems like Elastic/Splunk

  • Experience working in a virtualised environment

  • Experience with Application Load balancing and network troubleshooting.

  • Experience with SOLR, RabbitMQ
