Your Role: Structural Design Engineer:Lead mechanical and structural design of subsystems from concept through manufacturing releaseProduce 3D models, detailed drawings and structural/ thermal FEA calculations to ensure robust designs, design for manufacture (DFM) & continuous improvement are achievedManage design validation, documentation and integration with performance, systems and manufacturing teamsChampion professional standards of engineering integrity, safety and sustainability within the team (DNV, LR etc)As the team and business grows, you will be able to mentor and support junior engineers and take responsibility for whole propulsion system projectsSkills / Knowledge: Structural Design Engineer:A good degree in a relevant subject (e.G. mechanical / structural / marine engineering) Strong industry experience in either heavy structural design, heavy machinery, wind turbines, cranes, marine, shipping design, capital equipment, hydraulic lifting platforms coupled with good systems knowledge - actuators, gearbox, cooling, control systems etc. This is not just a stand alone structures role. Proven industry experience taking a product from concept into full production with good knowledge of DFM, DFA, large welded structures, materials, corrosion, composites and steels etcProven experience of high end 3D solid modelling CAD software (e.G. Inventor, Unigraphics NX, Solidworks, Creo, Catia or similar)Practical, hands on engineering skills would be ideal - ability to build or fabricate systemsPositive, enthusiastic attitude with a passion for engineering and mechanical product / structural designThis role sits within a growing start up business so flexibility and an adaptable approach to engineering is required.
