Job description
We are seeking a confident and capable Quarry Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations at our Guildford site.
This is a hands-on role, responsible for leading and developing the site team to ensure efficient production, minimise downtime, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
The successful candidate will support operational planning through accurate daily reporting, assist with mobile plant operations when required, and ensure all activities are carried out in line with company procedures and statutory obligations. Flexibility is essential, as occasional additional hours and travel to other sites may be required., * Lead, motivate, and coach the team to work safely and efficiently, maximising productivity and ensuring competent operation of mobile plant.
- Ensure all site operations comply with planning permissions, environmental permits, and company regulations.
- Supervise material processing, monitor performance, and support output targets.
- Oversee adherence to HR procedures (absence, discipline, grievance, etc.) and assist in investigations alongside the Operations Director.
- Enforce safe working practices and maintain up-to-date risk assessments in line with company protocols.
- Act as the designated responsible person during emergencies such as fire or other major incidents.
- Complete and maintain accurate daily reports, including throughput and site diary entries.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed, plant and equipment checks are logged, and defects are reported promptly.
- Lead by example to maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment with a strong focus on health, safety, and welfare.
- Support the Operations Director with additional duties as required, including providing cover during absences and assisting at other sites when necessary.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in Microsoft Office?, * Minimum of 3 year's experience leading teams in a quarrying or similar industrial environment, ideally with a recognised supervisory qualification.
- Hold Statutory 8.1(c) and NVQ qualifications.
- Strong understanding of quarry process equipment, pumps, and mobile plant, with the ability to identify and resolve operational issues effectively.
- Solid grasp of current health, safety, and environmental practices, with a proactive approach to promoting a safe working culture.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members, identifying training needs and supporting their growth and performance.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with a positive, professional attitude and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, and confidence in completing reports and maintaining accurate records.
- Willingness to work flexibly and undertake hands-on tasks as needed, including the operation of mobile plant such as bulldozers, dumpers, and loading shovels.
- First Aid at Work certification is desirable, or a willingness to undertake the training.
- Full UK driving licence required.
