Job description
We wouldn't be able to positively impact the way the world shops without our passionate team members - who keep our business running, our vans delivering, our customers' products picked and packed and our proprietary technology operating at optimum levels. Both behind the scenes within the warehouses and across the front end of the customer experience which means we now have an opportunity for an Analytics Engineer to join the team.
The Analytics Engineer sits at the intersection of data analysis, automation, and application development, bridging the gap between raw data sources and business insights. You will be responsible for designing and documenting clean data models that power our decision-making, while playing a pivotal role in modernising our technology stack by increasing our adoption of transformation orchestration and implementing robust automation practices.
You will be:
- Designing, testing, and documenting production-grade data models using SQL and dbt within Google BigQuery.
- Developing transformation layers to build staging, intermediate, and mart tables that serve global analytical and reporting needs.
- Automating data pipelines to feed analysis and building user-centric applications to replace legacy tools (Excel/Oracle).
- Optimising SQL queries and BigQuery usage to ensure performance efficiency and cost control across the network.
- Championing software engineering best practices within the analytics workflow, including Git workflows, CI/CD, and code reviews.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Supply chain?, * You are highly proficient in SQL, with specific experience in window functions, nested data, and performance tuning for the Analytics Engineer remit.
- You have hands-on experience working with cloud data warehouses, specifically Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery).
- You possess a strong understanding of data modelling concepts, including dimensional modelling and Star Schema.
- You are experienced in using dbt (or similar) for data transformation and are familiar with version control systems such as Git.
- You are a proactive communicator, able to translate business requirements from non-technical stakeholders into technical specifications.
