Job description
- Architectural Development and Alignment
- Develop and adapt Blue Yonder WMS (Discrete) and related IT architectures for the region in line with Rhenus Core and Competence Centre guidelines.
- Drive a "standard-first" mindset - maximizing configuration and reuse over custom development.
- Ensure design documentation, naming conventions, and technical structures follow common Rhenus standards.
- Maintain architectural integrity across multiple projects, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
- Together with the BY CC, embed architectural standards and design governance within the project management methodology, ensuring deliverables and quality gates are clearly defined and consistently applied.
- Design Governance and Quality Assurance
- Act as design gatekeeper within project delivery: review, delegate, and approve solution designs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain and enforce templates, checklists, and review criteria for all design phases.
- Ensure every project passes quality gates (scope definition, design review, go-live preparation) with full traceability and documentation.
- Evaluate deviations from standards; propose solutions and, if needed, escalate to the BY CC for approval.
- Ensure all designs balance efficiency, maintainability, and compliance with the Rhenus WMS Core.
- Project Delivery and Implementation Involvement
- Actively participate in project execution, from scoping to go-live, ensuring design feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, logistics engineers, and IT teams to guarantee the delivered solution meets design expectations.
- Take ownership of the design outcome - accountable for architectural integrity, even when tasks are delegated.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with IT infrastructure, operations, business development, and the BY Competence Centre to ensure designs are both technically feasible and operationally effective.
- Serve as a trusted partner to business and technical stakeholders in translating customer and operational requirements into scalable, standard-compliant solutions.
- Standardization and Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the continuous evolution of the Rhenus WMS Core templates.
- Integrate regional needs and lessons learned into the global design framework.
- Promote reuse of best practices, minimizing deviations and redundant developments.
- Knowledge Transfer and Community Leadership
- Lead and moderate the regional key user and consultant community, fostering knowledge exchange and continuous learning.
- Develop and manage knowledge-sharing formats such as reviews, lessons learned,, webinars, and communities of practice.
- Ensure that experiences from projects are documented and reused to improve quality and speed in future implementations.
- Coaching and Capability Development
- Coach functional and technical consultants on architecture standards, design practices, and problem-solving approaches.
- Support career development by mentoring less-experienced team members and reinforcing a culture of learning and ownership.
- Financial / Value Orientation
- Work closely with operations and project management to evaluate the cost-
- effectiveness of design choices versus development effort.
- Act as the go-to person for assessing how solution design contributes to productivity, efficiency, and other operational KPIs.
- Support the Head of RIC in measuring design impact and identifying optimization opportunities.
- Innovation and Strategic Alignment
- Participate actively in innovation initiatives (e.g., automation, robotics, digitalization) to ensure architectural readiness and future-proof designs.
- Represent Rhenus in global BY customer and partner discussions (e.g., Special Interest Groups).
- Ensure regional alignment with global roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives.
