Job description

Our client has rapidly become a go-to provider when it comes to Cyber Security, and Cyber Essentials, and Essentials Plus. With more public sector organisations requiring their suppliers to have Cyber Essentials accreditation and other process and quality accreditations that relate to IT, there services are in huge demand. As such, we've been tasked with helping them find new Cyber Security Consultant.

What's a day in the life?

Working as part of a friendly and small team of experts, you'll be at the forefront of helping businesses in improving their cyber and information security, delivering assessments such as Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus, and supporting the implementation of frameworks including ISO 27001, NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework, NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit and MOD Cyber Security Model.

Beyond delivery, you will contribute to business development through activities such as writing blog posts, networking and representing the company at industry events. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by helping organisations strengthen their digital resilience, while developing your own expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment., * Administration of Business Productivity Solutions (e.g. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace)

  • Legacy Network Protocols (e.g. Telnet, T/FTP, R-services, SNMPv1/2c, SMBv1, WEP)
  • Email Security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MTA-STS)
  • Web Security (Certificates, Cypher Suites, Security Headers, CORS)
  • Virtualisation
  • Proxying or Reverse Proxying
  • Second or third line support
  • IT, Cybersecurity or Information Security consulting
  • Vulnerability Assessments or Penetration Tests: Scoping and Common Tools

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in iOS?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Great customer service, ethics and values are so important to our client. You'll also need at least 3 years of experience in IT or Cyber Security and have strong foundational knowledge demonstrated by significant experience or the following qualifications:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ or
  • Bachelor's degree (2:1 or above) in IT, Computer Science or Cyber Security or
  • Master's degree (Merit or above) in IT, Computer Science or Cyber Security

Practical experience of:

  • Windows 10 or 11
  • Windows Server
  • Linux
  • Android or iOS, and
  • Common network protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP/S, SMTP, DNS, WPA2/3)

You'll need to have an inquisitive and forensic mindset - analytical, logical, objective, sceptical and accountable, along with strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

You'll need a commitment to professional development.

You'll need a Driving Licence (you'll be provided a car for business journeys).

Desirable things we are looking for:

  • Existing Cyber Essentials Assessor or NCSC Assured Cyber Advisor
  • A Vulnerability Assessment or Penetration Testing qualification: VA+, OSCP, CSTM, CRT, C|PENT
  • An Information security qualification (e.g. ISO27001 Lead Auditor, ISC2 CISSP, ISACA CISM)
