Job description
This isn't a role where you'll be left watching tutorials in a corner. You'll be writing real code, solving real problems, and working alongside experienced developers and data engineers from your very first week. Here's what your day-to-day could look like:
- Build and maintain software applications using modern frameworks like Laravel, React, and Node.js
- Write clean, well-documented code and take part in code reviews that'll sharpen your skills
- Work on data and AI projects through our GroundSight AI consultancy - think dashboards, data pipelines, and intelligent automation
- Get hands-on with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and support real deployments
- Provide face-to-face IT support for our managed service clients - building relationships, not just fixing tickets
- Contribute to agile sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives as a valued member of the team
- Troubleshoot and debug - because problem-solving is where the best learning happens
Important: We believe the fastest way to grow as a developer is to learn alongside experienced people. The first six months are primarily on-site at our Newcastle office at Quorum Business Park, so you'll need to be based in or able to commute to Newcastle upon Tyne.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, You don't need to know everything - we'll teach you. But you do need curiosity, drive, and the fundamentals, * A degree (any discipline - we value how you think, not just what you studied)
- Understanding of programming fundamentals and OOP
- Experience with at least one language (JavaScript, Python, PHP, etc.)
- Basic web dev knowledge (HTML, CSS, JS)
- Familiarity with databases and SQL
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication and written English (you'll be client-facing)
- A genuine eagerness to learn
- Right to work in the UK
BONUS POINTS
- Experience with Data & AI technologies
- PHP and Laravel know-how
- React or another front-end framework
- Git version control
- Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Agile methodology experience
