Job description
This role suits someone who enjoys designing systems, setting standards, and improving how teams build, not just delivering individual features.
We're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to play a key role in shaping our frontend architecture and help evolve our theming and CMS experience. This is not a "just ship tickets" role, you'll help define the foundations that allow us to scale without drowning in bespoke work.

What You'll Be Doing
- Create a Modular Frontend Platform
Help evolve a reusable, component-driven frontend approach that supports both standardised and customised customer experiences.
- Shape the Future CMS Frontend
Contribute to the design and build of the next-generation CMS frontend that supports multiple customers and use cases, and enables richer interactivity and workflows.
- Turn Bespoke into Configurable
Help move one-off frontend solutions toward shared components, patterns, and conventions that enable global updates, faster delivery, and long-term maintainability.
- Level Up the Frontend Team
Provide technical guidance and share experience with our frontend developers, helping the team grow toward a more modern, component-driven frontend platform.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Frontend Architecture & Direction
- Work alongside the Head of Engineering and the Frontend Developers to help shape the frontend technical roadmap.
- Contribute to defining shared frontend patterns, conventions, and guidelines.
- Help make pragmatic decisions around frameworks, tooling, and migration strategies.
Component & Theme System
- Contribute to building and maintaining a shared library of reusable components (HTML/CSS/JS).
- Help guide bespoke work toward shared components rather than long-term forks.
- Support the gradual improvement and modernisation of existing frontend implementations.
New CMS Frontend
- Play a key role in developing a modern frontend for our CMS, working closely with backend systems.
- Contribute to usability, performance, permissions, and content workflow decisions.
- Work closely with backend engineers to define clear and practical integration boundaries.
Mentorship & Code Quality
- Review frontend code and share best practices through collaboration and feedback.
- Support other frontend developers with JavaScript, architecture, and tooling.
- Help introduce and evolve sensible frontend processes (branching, reviews, ticket flow).
Collaboration & UX
- Work alongside designers and UX-focused developers to balance visual polish with technical robustness.
- Champion accessibility, responsiveness, and performance across all sites., * Exposure to SaaS, multi-tenant, or white-label platforms
- Familiarity with PHP/Twig or server-rendered architectures
- Experience contributing to or supporting migrations from legacy frontends to more modern stacks
