This role requires extensive expertise in computer networking, network security, and system administration, with a focus on high availability and performance optimisation. The ideal applicant will possess strong problem-solving abilities and experience working with diverse network protocols and technologies, including VPNs, firewalls, WAN/LAN, Cisco equipment, and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS., * This is a hands-on role in a physical environment for someone who wants to own a complex network and build the foundations for the future and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.

  • Design, deploy, and manage large-scale network infrastructure within the stadium environment, including LAN, WAN, VLANs, and wireless networks.
  • Configure and support network devices such as Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Juniper devices, and other hardware to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures including VPNs, firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS systems, PKI solutions, encryption protocols (IPsec), LDAP/Active Directory integration, SSO solutions, and network access controls.
  • Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, and SolarWinds Network Management Suite; troubleshoot issues related to routing protocols (BGP, OSPF EIGRP), load balancing, high availability configurations, and remote access software.
  • Manage cloud-based services such as Azure and AWS for hosting virtualised environments using VMware vSphere or similar platforms; oversee system administration tasks across various operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), openSUSE, Solaris.
  • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell or Bash to streamline deployment processes with tools like Ansible; ensure system security through regular updates and patch management.
  • Collaborate with telecommunication teams to optimise VoIP systems (VoIP QoS) and implement SDLC practices for project management; support network installation projects from planning through deployment.
  • Maintain documentation of network architecture diagrams, configurations, policies in line with ITIL standards; participate in capacity planning for future growth requirements.

Requirements

Do you have experience in vSphere?, * Proven experience in network engineering or system administration within large-scale stadiums or similar environments.

  • Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP stack, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF EIGRP), DNS/DHCP/NFS services.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco ISE for identity services; Cisco ASA firewalls; Juniper devices; MPLS networks; SAN storage solutions; VPN technologies including IPsec.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS; experience managing virtualisation environments using VMware vSphere or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles including encryption standards (SSL/TLS), IDS/IPS systems (Snort), SSO integration (LDAP), high availability architectures.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell Scripting for automation tasks; experience with DevOps tools like Ansible is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues swiftly whilst maintaining operational continuity.
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE Security or Data Centre certifications are highly desirable. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of stadium technology infrastructure while ensuring optimal performance and security across all networks involved in delivering memorable sporting experiences.
