Reporting to the IT & AV Support Manager, you will take operational and technical ownership of IT and AV services supporting the MPharm programme in Plymouth, We are seeking a Senior IT & AV Support Engineer to lead the delivery of reliable, high-quality IT and AV services that underpin technology-enhanced teaching, clinical simulation and hybrid learning environments. This is a pivotal role ensuring the reliable operation of technology-enabled teaching, clinical simulation environments, and AV-equipped learning spaces that support a professionally accredited healthcare course.
In this role, you will:
- Lead 1st and 2nd line IT & AV support services, ensuring effective incident, request and change management
- Oversee installation, maintenance and lifecycle management of IT and AV equipment
- Support digital teaching tools such as Moodle and Panopto
- Lead small technical projects, managing risks and stakeholder communication
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, documentation and service standards
- Provide technical leadership across Windows, macOS and Linux environments, with working knowledge of networking, Active Directory, SCCM and Jamf
- Support and advise on digital learning tools including Moodle, Panopto, Xerte and PebblePad
- Advise academic and administrative staff on e-assessment solutions (including video and audio), hybrid delivery and development of digital teaching materials
- Take technical ownership of IT and AV systems across the Plymouth site, ensuring teaching, simulation and hybrid learning environments operate securely and to University of Bath standards.
- Work closely with academic, technical and DDaT colleagues to deliver hands-on engineering support and proactive system management, maintaining a reliable, high-quality user experience.
Requirements
Do you have experience in macOS?, We are seeking a technically strong, service-oriented professional who combines operational leadership with excellent stakeholder engagement., * Previous experience of supporting IT and Audio-Visual hardware, software or services (1st and 2nd tier) ideally in an academic environment
- Broad and deep knowledge of current IT technologies and their application in a Higher Education context or similar
- Proven experience of working with people at different levels in a complex environment as well as building and maintaining working relationships
- Knowledge of IT or hardware including servers, desktop PCs, laptops and mobile devices
- Knowledge of lecture capture systems such as Panopto, Crestron or Extron
- Knowledge of online teaching / meeting systems such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- An understanding of virtual learning environments such as Moodle
- Experience of installing, using and administering one or more computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and Linux
- Confident user of Microsoft Office products and able to provide advice and support on these products
- Experience of using email and calendaring software in a business or academic environment
- Experience using systems like Active Directory, SCCM and Jamf
- IT networking knowledge
- Be self-motivated.
- Be able to work alone, in a team or with your peers.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills
- Enjoy working in a customer facing fast paced environment and be able to multitask and prioritise effectively.
