Job description

You'll join a cross-functional Design System team of 8 people: 2 Product Designers, 2 Frontend Engineers, 2 Content Designers, a Frontend Area Lead, and a Product Design Manager.

Together, we own the evolution of the Design System as a shared platform for the company - from components and tokens to documentation, content standards, and developer experience. We work closely with product teams to ensure consistency, scalability, and meaningful adoption across the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Strategy & Architecture

  • Own the technical strategy, architecture, and long-term evolution of the Design System.
  • Define the DS roadmap, engineering principles, governance model, and maturity targets.
  • Design migration and integration strategies (versioning, backward compatibility, deprecations) to ensure sustainable evolution.

Adoption & Impact

  • Establish and evolve the Design System adoption framework by defining success metrics, analyzing usage data, identifying friction points, and driving improvements.
  • Ensure consistency, scalability, interoperability, and measurable adoption of the system across teams.
  • Act as the technical authority for frontend and Design System standards across the organization.

Engineering Excellence

  • Mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and foster a strong engineering culture within and beyond the team.
  • Maintain high-quality standards across accessibility (a11y), performance, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Build and evolve automation pipelines: package builds, documentation platforms, CI/CD, token generation, and design-to-code workflows.

Requirements

We're looking for a Tech Lead who sees the Design System as a strategic platform, not just a UI toolkit. Someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, design, and product, and is comfortable setting technical direction across teams.

Engineers who excel in this role think in systems, care about architecture and developer experience, and drive measurable adoption and impact. They influence without authority, use data and feedback to evolve the system, and consistently raise the bar for engineering quality., * 5+ years of experience building modern frontend applications with TypeScript and React, and proven experience leading or scaling a Design System in a product-driven environment.

  • Strong experience architecting scalable component libraries with clear API design principles and long-term maintainability in mind.
  • Deep knowledge of CSS architecture, design tokens, theming, and styling strategies.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA) and experience building accessible components.
  • Hands-on experience with modern frontend tooling (Vite/Webpack/Rspack), package management, and monorepo setups.
  • Experience setting up CI/CD for libraries, semantic versioning, changelog automation, and release processes.
  • Experience in profiling and optimizing component performance and render behavior.

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience building and maintaining design token pipelines (Style Dictionary, Token Studio, Figma Tokens).
  • Familiarity with Figma API, automated documentation sync, and design-to-code tooling.
  • Background in design foundations (typography, branding systems).
  • Understanding of localization, i18n, and RTL challenges.

Benefits & conditions

Here's how we care about your growth, well-being, and comfort:

  • Remote onboarding and probation period for candidates outside of Barcelona.
  • Relocation support for you and your family.
  • Professional development budget for relevant conference tickets, training programs, or courses.
  • Flexible benefits package to customize your own perks.
  • Comprehensive health insurance for both you and your family.
  • Free meals and snacks in the office.
  • Hybrid format to split your time between the comforts of home and collaborative WeWork spaces.
