The Ground Application Senior Software Engineer helps designs, builds, and sustains ground-based software applications and services that support mission-critical operations, including data ingestion, processing, visualization, and integration with back-end services and hardware systems.
This role partners closely with product, systems, platform, data, and test teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and reliable software that improves Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
This opportunity will suit a software engineer who enjoys getting involved in all aspects of the software development/engineering lifecycle, collaborating with team members, cross-functional GE Aerospace teams and customers alike., As a Ground Applications Senior Software Engineer in the Aircraft Services Department, core responsibilities:
- Take the lead role in the full lifecycle of design, implementation and tests of software for ground application software products, ensuring compliance with GE engineering processes and DO-178C DAL D
- Confident in front end as well as backend development and configuration, ensuring reliable and performant products
- Identifying software failures and implementing effective solutions driving root-cause analysis, retrospectives, and improvements that enhance Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
- Able to apply secure coding practices, identity and access controls, and data protection
- Acting as a mentor and resource for less experienced team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team
- Work cross-functionally with project managers, systems engineers, and end users to refine requirements
- Proven ability to work in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Clear, concise communication and ability to demonstrate software to stakeholders.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * High level of proficiency in the following languages .NET, C#, HTML
- Experienced in manual test processes, procedures and documentation to ensure quality and reliable software
- Experienced in developing and maintaining automated testing software tools
- General understanding of automated testing tools such as TestComplete
- Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Familiarity with relational and SQL databases (e.g. MS SQL server) and schema design
- Experience using Visual Studios
- Proficient in Windows 10 application development, * Real-time or near-real-time data processing and visualization experience
- Awareness of regulatory or quality frameworks (e.g., AS9100, DO-178C, ISO 27001), and software safety practices
- Experience using IBM Engineering Workflow Management tools
- Aware of Windows 11 application development
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience, * You will be required to work in a team environment, so good written and verbal communication skills will make you (and the team) most effective.
- You will be asked to participate in technical reviews within the Aircraft Services team to share technical knowledge and solutions, as well to the end customers. A positive attitude, initiative, pro-activeness and an enthusiasm and passion for engineering will help you succeed in the department.
- Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, Rally, Azure DevOps, Jira, as well as experience with continuous Integration, Build and Test practices would also be advantageous as we continue to improve our product portfolio and the way we develop software solutions.
