Senior Software Engineer with practical DevOps experience

As a Senior Software Engineer, you lead the design, implementation, and verification of software components across a wide range of applications, from driver control and algorithm development to UI and human-machine interfaces.

You not only understand how to write high-quality software, but also how to optimize the development ecosystem around it. You have experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. By sharing your expertise and mentoring junior engineers, you stimulate technical excellence and continuously raise our software standards.

Software Engineering (Core of the Role)

• Design, implement, and verify subsystems, modules, and components within embedded systems and middleware environments
• Write efficient, maintainable, real-time code in C++ and C
• Integrate software into complex hardware and software systems
• Apply Object-Oriented Programming, UML, unit testing, and modern design principles

DevOps & Automation

• Initiate and implement improvements in the team's DevOps way of working
• Set up, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (build, test, release)
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes to minimize manual work and errors (Python)
• Support and guide colleagues in DevOps principles and practices (knowledge sharing and coaching)

Do you have experience in Unit testing?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Bachelor's or Master's degree in (Technical) Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or similar

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a high-tech or embedded environment
• Strong programming skills in C++ and C, plus knowledge of Python
• Experience with OOP, unit testing, Agile methodologies, and software design principles
• Experience with or a strong affinity for DevOps and CI/CD
• Experience setting up or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a strong plus

• Permanent contract
• An all-in employment package between €57,000 and €76,500 (including net expense allowance, mobility package, 13th-month bonus, and holiday allowance). Final salary is based on relevant work experience and level of expertise
• 26 vacation days (with the option to purchase additional days) and a solid pension scheme

TOPIC Embedded Systems is a system developer with its office in Best. We develop embedded systems essential to many products manufactured by reputable high tech companies worldwide. These may include low level embedded software, but also application software, user interfaces, web or mobile applications or FPGAs. With our knowledge and expertise we carry out consultancy assignments, projects on site and at TOPIC’s own offices and we develop our own embedded products such as Miami, Florida and Dyplo.  We often use these as part of the solution that we offer to our clients.
